What should the diet look like?


Make a good diet plan for health and take a balanced diet. This plan includes fruits and vegetables, cereals, nuts including almonds, seeds including pumpkin, parangi, beans and pulses. Eat at least 5 servings of fruits and vegetables every day.

To boost your immune system, take vitamin C rich foods such as gooseberry, guava, satikudi, orange and lemon as your regular diet.

*Use olive oil, almond, walnut, and avocado oils that provide the healthy fats your body needs. Consume only low-fat products derived from milk and other animal sources. Avoid hydrogenated fats found in various fast foods and packaged foods.

*Avoid sweetened fruit juices including soda. Eat sweets occasionally rather than often. People who cannot eat the fruit can drink it as juice.

*Reduce processed meats and red meat. You can take protein-rich fish, chicken, beans, cereals, pulses and eggs. Also cut down on waffles, pickles, boxed and processed foods.

*Chew slowly and well. Stop eating if you feel your stomach is full. Replace sugary, salty or fatty snacks with fruits and vegetables.

*Drink 8 to 10 glasses of water a day to keep your body hydrated.
